These settings allow you to choose an Open Graph “type” for each public post type on your site. By default, the og:type
is set to “article” for both pages and posts, as that is the standard for most website content. However, if you have specialized types of content such as books, places, products, etc., you can use these settings to set that Open Graph value.
You can also override your global og:type setting on a per-post or per-page basis if needed by changing the swp_og_type
custom field to another valid type per Facebook’s recognized og:type list (see Object Types at the bottom).
These settings will not result in any changes on the front end of your website but will make it easier for search engines and social networks to recognize what types of content you feature there.
