Both button click tracking and UTM link tracking can be enabled to gain insights about your visitors’ sharing behavior in Google Analytics. Social Warfare does not provide its own stats but instead relies on the power of Google Analytics to show you what is being shared by your audience.
Social Warfare has already been updated to work with Google Analytics 4, meaning all of the data that flows in through your custom social share buttons will be easily accessible.
If you are using a custom Bitly short domain to shorten links, we recommend using button click tracking and not UTM tracking, as the number of created UTM links may exceed your Bitly limit for the month.
Button Click Tracking: Turning this on will trigger events in Google Analytics whenever a user clicks on one of your buttons. This feature requires that you have Google Analytics installed properly on your site.
UTM Link Tracking: This will add UTM parameters to the end of each shared link allowing you to view information about the links in Google Analytics.
UTM Medium & UTM Campaign: This allows you to control what terms you want to use when tracking these links in Google Analytics. It is important to note that you CANNOT have spaces in these terms, or it will break the links.
UTM Tracking on Pins: Pinterest tallies share counts separately for links with UTM tracking rather than tallying them up to the actual URL of the post. So, by default, this option is set to false so that UTM tracking will not appear on links that are shared with Pinterest. However, if you’re not worried about counts and you really want that tracking, this option allows you to turn it on.
