On Wednesday our team launched a brand new version of this site that we’ve been working on for months.
For quite a while we’ve wanted to refresh the look and feel of the site for a number of reasons. The most prominent of those reasons was to improve the experience for our paying customers as well as our affiliates.
The new website design and layout accomplishes both of those things. And if I do say so myself, it’s pretty easy on the eyes as well.
In this post I wanted to cover what some of the most significant changes were and why we made them.
New Homepage
Obviously, the first thing most people see when they discover a website is the homepage. Since we currently have one core product, that homepage always did the heavy lifting in regards to introducing Social Warfare – Pro to those who may not know much about it yet.
This updated homepage takes elements from what we’ve known to work well in the past and combine them with what we’ve been hearing from users. Specifically, we wanted to:
- Highlight our explainer video
- Highlight features that our customers love the most
- Show more testimonials from real people
We’ve accomplished all of those goals. The most interesting of which, however, took some work.
Adding the explainer video to the top of the page and getting more testimonials was easy. However, I spent a lot of time trying to figure out just which features to highlight because Social Warfare – Pro has so many great aspects. We didn’t want to overwhelm people by giving detailed info about every single feature.
In order to find what features our users loved most, I decided to read every single 5-star review on our WordPress.org page and record all the things that users were raving about. I then tallied up all the features mentioned and discovered just what it was that people loved most.
The team and I are very happy with the result, and will be monitoring closely to see how well it performs against previous iterations.
Your Account Page is Better Than Ever
We spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to make the Account page more functional and easier to use. Many people voiced that the old version was clunky and a bit confusing, so we knew we had to make some drastic changes.
We started by breaking up the different Account page functions into a tabbed interface so you could easily access only the areas you needed.
And on top of that, our Director of Customer Support (and talented developer), Andrea, made it so that the tabbed interface works great on mobile with icon-based labels.
So hopefully, you find the Account page to be better than ever at helping you get what you need.
A “Products” Page?
Many of you know that we plan on rolling out new “Add-ons” for Social Warfare. These add-ons will give extended features and functionality that aren’t available with the Pro add-on.
We have three new add-ons that we’re hoping to unveil next month that will be added to our lineup of products. Stay tuned.
Big Changes to Our Blog
With the new theme also comes significant changes to how we approach our blog content and company updates.
From the beginning, we’ve had both our company/product updates combined in the blog feed with our articles about Social Media, Marketing, and other non-product-related posts.
We realized that this makes it much more difficult for those who are looking for our blog posts to sort through when they have to also sort through a bunch of company-related updates and news.
So in an effort to make our blog content even more useful and easy to sort through, we’ve removed all company updates and product news (like this post you’re reading now) to a completely separate feed.
If You Find Any Bugs…
Lastly, we’d love to hear if there’s anything about the site that you find out of place or wonky. You can leave us a note in the comments below if you see anything.
Otherwise, thanks for stopping by, and we hope you love the redesign as much as we do!
